Funkturm 33
Funkturm 33 came to life as the soundtrack for an audio drama podcast project that, sadly, never saw the light of day: the story of a person, locked away and alone in a bunker, surrounded by mysterious signals and frequencies that seem to come from nowhere.
Funkturm 33 itself, the fictional bunker receiving these frequencies, lends the EP its name and its sonic world.
The six tracks follow the isolation of this story: cramped spaces, thick metal, the feeling that something is out there you can't see. Analog textures, distorted frequency bands, and glitches that keep creeping into the sound, like a reception that never quite stabilizes. Beneath it all lie powerful drones that slowly build and fill the space, as if the bunker itself were breathing.
Even without its accompanying story, Funkturm 33 works as a standalone piece, a soundtrack for an audio drama that exists only in the imagination.
