First Generation
A signal from a distant future.
First Generation is the first release under the name SubSystem V, ten tracks drawn from a shared universe: A distant, dystopian science-fiction future, born out of my own Mothership TTRPG sessions.
Abandoned ship decks, dying systems, the crackle of radio static somewhere between the stars, the EP translates these images into sound. Each track is its own coordinate in this universe. Some pieces drift quietly through space, barely more than texture and noise. Others carry a pulse within them, mechanical and almost organic at once, as if something were still running in the background that should have been shut down long ago.
It's all held together by a recurring sonic language: Analog synthesizers, filtered field recordings, and drones that slowly build and dissolve.
First Generation marks the transition from my earlier work as Vaxxer to SubSystem V: A new name for a new focus: less mainstream song, more space. Less pop, more narrative atmosphere.
Best experienced in the dark, with headphones, without distraction.
